The title track from our 2016 release Suzerain was inspired by the book Blood Meridian by Cormac McCarthy. It is an amazing amalgamation of psychedelia and brutality, which I find shows through allot in how I write and play. Their split with Cough, Reflection of the Negative, was extremely influential to me.
Windhand in particular were very influential when it came to shaping my tone. Windhand and Cough were some of the first bands Wilson suggested to listen to when he asked me to join. Reflection of the Negative - Windhand/Cough Split (2013) My mind is blown every time my ears succumb to the rhythmic riffs of Electric Wizard. His fills, cymbal work and beats flow so well with the rest of the band and seamlessly create a dense backline. When it comes to my influences, I would have to say Electric Wizard ( Dopethrone) got me into slow and heavy styles but Michael Henry from Bongzilla influenced my drumming. The angular riffs and especially the slow sections are absolutely sick. The balance of odd rhythms and really long phrasings against haunting melody is pretty powerful. From Wisdom to Hate - by Gorguts (2001)įor me, this was a huge album to discover and be immersed in. Conan were and still are one of the bands that keeps me hooked to this ridiculous, crazy, fantastic brand of music we play. The two tone vocal overlays, the enormous drumming throughout. The guitar riffs, sometimes simple, yet always heavy and forcing you to bang your head in approval. Holy shit the second I pressed play on this album I was ready to break things. Ahead of their three-date tour, we caught up with the band to snag some insight into their inner creative workings via five of their favourite tunes and albums.

Last year’s full length Suzerain was a hearty slab of psychedelic sludge, which New Zealand will be privy to seeing in the flesh in April. But all in all it looked like I had suddenley pulled a rabbit out of my ass and saved the economy after midway through it looked like I was gonna bomb it all.Merchant, for those who are unaware, are Melbourne-based proponents of crushing riffs and fuzz filth personified in sound. I had a fully maxed out Economy bar, and my budget was only at -1 (Recentley took a loan to get +2). (I was especially pissed because I just defeated Graf in the USP Leadership election. at least I would know what happened and probably why. I would have been happier getting assassinated. I was really happy with this game until I recieved a sudden and non-explanative game over. what did I do that is Treason? Joining ATO? Refusing to go to war with the Rums? changing the constitution in a way that makes my office LESS powerful?
What pisses me off so much about it is you are not even told WHY. Simply changing things for what you think is progressive or better, is seen as Treason Im starting to believe the reason some people are getting ousted in a coup is because Ioseph is a hardline Sollist. In this run I had the Black Tuesday crash happen. The Black Tuesday crash didn't happen in this run,Ģnd run I just pretty much spend budget whenever I could (-8) and the economy got at 1 bar. I'm not entirely sure, but I can give you my experience in the 2 runs I had.ġst run my budget never went below -4 (or -3) and the economy at its lowest was 2 bars. I had the default decree powers, I saw the power grab reforms too, I dont remember seeing an option for improved decree powers.ĭoes max decree powers require going along with the old guard justices when they come to you with false evidence against Richter?ĭid you figure out what causes Black Tuesday?
Just to top it all off I lost the centrist justices because I proposed every president gets a member of honour membership, which I only chose to have it as a bargaining chip to give away in trade for support, to which the main centrist justice DIDN'T give me the option to get rid of it!!! What? everyone want to horsetrade except her?ītw I never saw an option to purge the military. I failed most assembly votes, so I finally had to ally with the fascist party at the expense of losing my justice minister, just to get it passed the assembly. I've had 15 restarts just to avoid Black Tuesday alone. at least I was eventually released.as an old, broken man. both should have put up a bit of a fuss on my behalf.
